When a child is at their hardest, your staff shouldn’t have to guess.
Hard Moments Training is an on-site professional development day for school staff. It’s about one thing: connecting with kids when they’re dysregulated, meaning so overwhelmed they can’t think, listen, or calm down on their own.
Taught by someone who runs a school.
I’m not coming in with theory. For 13 years I’ve led Illuminate Academy in Nashville, a school of about 50 learners, kindergarten through high school. Many of them came to us after other schools ran out of ideas.
I know what a hard moment looks like at 10:40 on a Tuesday, with 20 other kids in the room. And I know what your staff can do differently the next morning.
What your staff will walk away with
[LEARNING OUTCOMES: 3 to 5 concrete things staff can do after the day]
[FORMAT: length of the day, group size, who should attend, any follow-up]
A good fit for schools that
Are seeing
- More dysregulated students than staff feel ready for.
- Staff burnout around behavior.
- Discipline that isn’t changing anything.
Want
- A shared way of responding across the building.
- Connection before correction, in practice, not just on a poster.
- Practical tools staff can use the next day.
- 20years in autism-specific and neuroaffirming education
- 13years building Illuminate Academy
- ~50learners, kindergarten through high school
- 5kids of my own: four boys and a girl
Let’s talk about your team.
Tell me about your school and what your staff are facing. I’ll follow up to talk through dates and details.
