Hard Moments, Clear Answers, a live one-hour workshop for parents, is on [HMCA DATE & TIME]. Save my seat

The meltdown isn’t the start of the story. It’s the end of it.

Meltdowns. Shutdowns. Refusals. Going quiet. You’ve read the books. You’ve tried the charts. In one live hour, I’ll show you how to read what led up to the hard moment, and what you can do about it.

The hard moments can make sense.

When your child falls apart at 3:15, it can feel like it came out of nowhere. It almost never does.

Most hard moments are the bill for a long day. A loud room. A plan that changed. A shirt that itched for six hours. Holding it together at school, then letting go with the person they feel safest with. That’s you.

Once you can read the bill, you can start to change what’s on it.

TODAY

One kid. One regular Tuesday.

An example day, written as a receipt
Woke up early-10
Rushed breakfast-10
Loud lunchroom-20
Recess got cancelled-15
Itchy shirt, all day-15
Held it together in class-30
Left in the tank0
Meltdown in the car3:15 pm
Behavior is a receipt. It shows you what the day already cost.
  1. Behavior is a receipt.

What you see is the total. The workshop shows you how to read the line items.

  2. This is physics, not willpower.

An overloaded body can’t think its way calm. That isn’t a choice your child is making, and it isn’t a failure on yours.

  3. A muscle, not an idea.

Knowing what helps and doing it in the moment are two different things. Small steps. Practiced often.

Jacquelene Nigrelli, founder of Connect & Curate and Illuminate Academy

Hi, I’m Jacquelene.

For 20 years I’ve worked with kids who have hard moments. For 13 of those, I’ve been building Illuminate Academy in Nashville, a school for the kids everyone else had run out of ideas for.

I’m also a mom of five. So I know the hard days from both sides: the classroom and the car ride home.

Connect & Curate is where I share what we’ve learned with parents and schools. Honest answers. Real next steps. No judgment.

I built a place for the kids everyone else had run out of ideas for.

I have a master’s degree in special education, and I’ve spent 20 years in autism-specific intervention and neuroaffirming education. Neuroaffirming just means we work with the way a child’s brain is wired, not against it.

Thirteen years ago, I started building Illuminate Academy in Nashville. Today it’s home to about 50 learners, kindergarten through high school. Many of them came to us after other schools said they didn’t know what else to try.

Here’s what those years taught me. Connection comes before correction. Real growth is possible, at 7, at 17, at 21. Getting it wrong is normal; we try again tomorrow. And nobody does this well alone.

Your child doesn’t need to be autistic, or diagnosed, or anything else for this to help. If the hard moments are part of your days, you’re in the right place.

More about me

Today might be hard. It can still be good.

Spend one hour with me. Your child can be 7, 17, or 21. Diagnosed, undiagnosed, or neither. You’ll leave with three shifts you can start using tonight.
